Norfolk
Norfolk is located in northeast Nebraska. Norfolk first became a community in 1881. However, it was originally named North Fork in reference to the Elkhorn River. Due to a postal error, North Fork was given the name Norfolk. Today, Norfolk is probably best known as being the proud birthplace of late night TV legend Johnny Carson.
In addition to the various recreational activities available in the community there are many events in Norfolk that community members can enjoy throughout the year. Norfolk hosts the Northeast Nebraska Ethnic Festival (a cultural celebration), the Big Bang Boom (a Fourth of July celebration), Nebraska Rocks (a music festival), the Annual Literature Festival, and LaVitsef (an annual festival).
