Overview

Wakefield
Wakefield is located in northeast Nebraska and is known as the baseball capital of the state. The community, in Dixon County, is home to about 1,400 residents. Wakefield was incorporated in 1881 and prospered due to the abundant water and fertile land.

Wakefield is also home to many recreational activities. Parks, a pool, volleyball courts, a walking and bike path, a softball field, a baseball field, a baseball complex, and a recreation facility free to the public with a walking track and complete exercise room are just some of the facilities available in Wakefield.

Since Wakefield is surrounded by fertile land, a large aspect of the economy is farming. The Wakefield area has grown considerably in the past decade. Contributing to the increase was the $18,000,000 Waldbaum dried egg products facility and the MPM Farms cow dairy.
